| Rab is a lovely 6 yr old gentleman, currently living with a foster family at the moment with a female greyhound and children. He has adapted quite quickly to this busy household.. He is a shy, maybe even nervous boy but once he knows you're not going to hurt him, he just wants to love you. He has been spotless in his foster home and settled very quickly to domestic life.
He walks great on the harness and loves his walks. He's quite inquisitive when meeting other smaller dogs and if they bark first, he'll start barking back and pulling slightly on the lead. Using a water pistol on him when this starts has started to show some positive results, he is very easily managed on the lead. So, caution is needed initially with small dogs outside, but he has been in a friends home who had a bossy small terrier and he was completely scared of her and just ignored her.
A home with a secure back garden is definitely needed as Rab loves to explore (the grass is always greener syndrome i think here!!)
Rab loves his food and treats and takes biscuits from my kid's hands so gently. He is absolutely terrified of the hoover and will hide by the back door when it's switched on but hopefully this will subside in time as hoovers are a bit alien to him, understandably!!
Rab is a gentle loving boy who would love to be part of a family who are around lots or that maybe have another placid female/male dog to keep him company. He has been quite stressed being left on his own (even with Callie), but over the week he has improved dramatically.
This boy really is a star who's had a rough start in life and now deserves someone's loves for the rest of his days.
Rab is neutered and fully vaccinated.
We are currently working with Rab, giving him more exposure to other dogs. See his diaries below the photo gallery

DOGGY DAY OUT DIARIES
RAB'S day out - Day 1 Well, hello, everyone, I'm Rab and I'm new to this blogging game, but I'm going to tell you about my day out. You can see my pic on the dogs for adoption gallery.
I have started carefully with just a morning stroll along the river at Methlick. There was a lot to look at, you know. There was even a duck on the river. I watched it with a bit of a glint in my eye, but I was all trussed up in a harness, a martingale collar and a slip collar, so I wasn't going no place. then there was a squirrel. Well, I akshelly had to have it pointed out to me as being interesting. Once I did see it, I watched it for a while but I stood still when I was told to so no excitement there.
In fact, I was beginning to think going for walks was jolly dull till Duncan the weimaraner turned up with his family. Now, he looked like fun, so I bounced up and down and tried to rush up to him. But, hey, Auntie Annella may be little, but when she plants her feet, you ain't rushing up to anybody. Well, Duncan's people were nice, Kimberley and Anna were just my height and I let them stroke me and I was good. When Duncan came close I still wanted to bounce but very soon we just stood still and the people chatted. I did look back to see if he was following me when we set off again, but I know I have to be good on my leads.
I was only out for an hour but I was awful tired, so we had a stop beside the river and watched the traffic on the road and the llamas in the field. Yes, there is llamas in Methlick
Because I'm a keen grey, I'm not going to meet Bundle and the gang just yet, but tomorrow, I'm going to their place to see how I get on in a field with rabbits and other interesting things. If I don't get too bouncy, I'll be allowed to see the horses and maybe go for a walk past the pond with the swans.
Keep your paws crossed for me, cos if I am a good boy maybe I will find a forever home.

RAB's Day Out - Day 2
Well, thank you, Lassie and Phoebe. I did try hard to be good. I went out again on Saturday. Instead of going for a walk, I went visiting. First I met Jasmine. Well, the thing is, when I was with my trainer, I always had to protect my own space so I'm very in your face when I meet other dogs. So I got out of the car and tried to headbutt Jas. Course, I had my muzzle on and was on the lead so I couldn't be bad, but Jas growled at me and told me to behave and leave her alone. She's quite fierce for an old lady Then we went for a toddle round the field and I was absolutely fine.
Then I went to visit two lady lurchers. Well, I did the headbutt thing again so they didn't like me. Kit just stood and looked at me, and Flash wouldn't come near me. I did want to play with them when we went in their field, but I don't think I know how to play. So I stayed on my lead.
I am good on my lead - but I've got really sensitive skin and get rubbed bits so Auntie Di has to put Sudacreme on me.
Auntie Annella says I am a sweet boy when I'm on my own. I wag my tail and look for cuddles. I walk really nicely on my lead and stand still to look at things when I'm told to. But I need to find people who understand that I have learned to defend myself first. She says I am intelligent and quick to learn but I will need a lot of patience to bring out the best in me. I can be distracted and although I'm strong, I won't pull you off your feet. I mean, hey, I watched the lurchers playing with horses and stood beside Auntie Annella. I looked at sheep next door and just thought, why have those fluffy beds got legs?
Keep all your paws crossed for me cos I want to find my forever home with the right people to show me how to be an angel
Rab
Go for a nice day out, they said. Just a wee change of scene, they said. Meet some new chums, they said. So I put on my safe collar and trundled off with wee Auntie Annella.
It all started fine. I had a nice walk along the track and round the field. I met some of the neighbours and was very polite with them. Well! The place was full of pigeons and pheasants but they wasn't very interesting. I did put up a couple of rabbits. That was more fun cos I is a very keen boy. Auntie Annella hanged on like mad and I was made to stand still until I stopped staring after them. AA is a great fan of Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer - well, there wasn't so much whispering, she kept poking me in the ribs when I stopped concentrating on her. Well. I have the concentration span of a peanut, so there was quite a bit of poking to start with. But I'm a good boy, really so I soon got the hang of it.
Ok so back to the house for a snozzelet.....No, not yet. I had to be introduced to the gang. First I went for another walk, with Pierrot this time. More rabbits, more pokes. P is weird. He doesn't try to chase things when he's on the lead. I was getting the hang of it by this time and didn't try to chase the black cat we saw, but I would've liked to!
Next I met Cassie and Jasmine. They's nice girls and I was friends with them. Then the big test came. I had to meet Bundle the terrier. Well, we sniffed each other very politely and she explained that she is the boss and when I tried to be a little bit rude and push her she said, in very simple words that even I could understand, that I should be afraid, be very afraid. I was afraid, I was very afraid. Akshelly, I was a angel. I only looked sideways at her once, thought better of it and gave up all thoughts of trying to boss her.
I was just getting the hang of pottering about when they all disappeared up into the sky. AA said it was just stairs, but I cried cos I didn't know what stairs is for. And Cassie was up in the clouds looking down at me. I had to be showed how to go up. Then me and Pierrot went thundering up and down for a while so that was fun!
You'd think it was getting near snoozle time, but no, I had to go and help muck out the hosses' boxes in the yard. Cassie showed me how to eat hoss pooh - yummy. The yard was all barricaded so we couldn't get out.And I had a lovely time just pottering about with my new chums.
At last, we all had a snoozzle in the kitchen. Then it was time to go back to New Deer and we all, except Jas who was still sleeping, got in the car and went back to Diane's.
AA says I am a lovely boy and was really, really brave. I'm actually a bit unsure of myself and can get anxious when I don't understand. I am keen to chase rabbits. But I know I could learn not to try at least when I'm on the lead. I like people and I am learning that small dogs are really just big dogs with short legs and are chums- Thanks Bundle!
