What can I say??? A little character who helped me lose about ˝ stone in weight with extra walking.

Bo-Bo, a 1yr old stunning saluki lurcher and Dylan, a handsome 2y old brindle greyhound came to us from Abandoned Animals. Both were strays who had been dumped. GAGAH and Abandoned Animals work closely together helping as many greyhounds and lurchers as possible.

Dylan was homed almost straight away to the Murray family, who couldn’t wait for a suitable dog to come along. So as soon as he recovered from his neutering he was on his way to a brilliant, loving home. Dylan is a very laid back, gentle soul who has fitted in well and is doing FAB! Also, thanks to Christine (Dylan’s mum) Bo-Bo found his home – 2 doors up. Christine had shown Janet McDougall our newsletter. Janet saw Bo-Bo, fell in love and the rest is history.

Bo-Bo, I thought would be here for a while because of his little ‘toilet’ problem. Ian who helps out Anne at Abandoned animals warned me in advance that he only ever did his wee’s and pooh’s in his kennel even if he had been out for 1hr walking. Immediately I flew to JRD’s to buy a bulk load of disinfectant, and Bo-Bo made sure I used it (the little treasure).

Sure enough, the first couple of days I couldn’t get the timing right for Bo-Bo and yes, out came the disinfectant yet again. Then on the third morning I got up at 5.30 to see if I could just catch him in time. Low and behold, he hadn’t done anything in his kennel so I got him outside asap and to my great delight he did his wee, what a HUGE fuss he got and then a play with the ball. Thirty minutes later he did his pooh! And the same praise again. From then on, because he is such an intelligent little fellow, the penny dropped….”pee in my kennel and get nothing or cross my legs, do it outside, and get loadsa treats???” Thankfully, cos I was now onto mophead number 3, we made progress every day, even if it meant walking him for up to an hour sometimes to get him to do it outside.

It was quite funny looking back now, dreading what I was going to find lurking and mashed on his kennel floor, you could only smile cos every time you went into his kennel he insisted on putting a paw on each of your shoulders and giving you a big hug and a sloppy kiss. He was so pleased to see you. This was very sweet, EXCEPT for the times when he had pooh on his paws which he then proceeded to smear all down the front of my jacket. (Hope no-one is eating while they are reading this).

As soon as Janet and her family met Bo-Bo they fell in love. They knew of his little ‘problem’ and that it would take timing and patience for him to master ‘where to go’ but this didn’t phase them at all. Bo-Bo is doing great and the McDougall’s are besotted with him. He has been back to visit me as well. It was amazing to see his loving, sleepy little face again.

A BIG Thanks to Christine & family for giving Dylan such a wonderful home and for helping find Bo-Bo the perfect family for him.
