Jasper

Jasper was a 9yr old lurcher lad who had been in a home since a pup. He had never experienced kennels and so when he came to us, he did not cope at all. On the first 2 days of arriving he howled constantly and never slept a wink. He just needed to be with someone all the time, that’s what made him happy. Now it’s very hard to find owners who really are around 24/7 and when they aren’t can take their dog with them everywhere. But, as luck would have it, thankfully we got a call from a lovely couple who were desperate for a dog as they has recently lost their own dog.

When I went to homevisit Tom & Maria, I took Jasper with me to see how they would react to him. They LOVED him, but were completely unaware that he was the dog I had in mind for them. Jasper took to them instantly. The perfect match.

I kept in touch with them and when I went to visit Jasper he had put on weight and after greeting me, proceeded to toddle off into Tom & Maria’s bedroom and flake out on their double bed with his head on the pillows. Jasper was very happy there.

Sadly, after having only been in his new home for 6mths he suffered a massive stroke. The Vet recommended he be allowed to go with dignity as it was inevitable that there would be major brain damage due to the severity of the stroke. 

This has broken Tom & Maria’s heart as they loved and treasured him so much. Jasper was such a lovely natured boy who just loved being with humans all the time. He asked for nothing else but their company. I imagine the trauma of being so uprooted after 9yrs may have taken its toll on him, but at least he knew 6mths of love, affection and attention before he went. Thank you both for giving him back such happy times.
