GAGAH Fundraising and Events

We are always looking for funds and bright ideas how to get money in to feed 'the lodgers' while they are waiting for a new home, pay vet bills, arrange emergency accommodation, and advertise for homes.

We try to arrange fundraising events where we can put dogs in the public eye and educate people in their charms at the same time as getting some much needed cash.

New Deer Show

Hi Folks,

Just to let you know the dates for this year’s New Deer Show are Saturday the 19th & Sunday the 20th of July so mark it in your diaries.

Last year and the previous year’s shows have all been tremendously successful and all you guys have given huge support each and every year. You have never seen so many hounds in one place.

The show is a great opportunity for raising awareness, finding new homes, and for fundraising and for just showing off your happy Hound(s).

It would be great if you could make it this year, we plan to have the usual pitch and hopefully better weather.

Our main money spinner is the Tombola, and I know a lot of you are already collecting for Tombola prizes, which is much appreciated as we need enough to last us both days. If any of you are good at homebaking, then this also brings in a good amount. And, not forgetting the GAGAH shop which is a brilliant chance for you to spoil your hounds even more, Thea always has a brilliant range of stock to treat yourself and your hound, so start saving up for a ‘blow-out’!!!

It’s great just to come along and have a chat with people who are at the initial stages of considering homing a dog, just meeting so many well behaved hounds is enough to help them realise what amazing pets they make.

So, hopefully see you all there.

As ever, huge thanks for your continued support. We wouldn’t be able to help so many dogs without it, everyone doing whatever they can to help and to date we have now homed over 550 dogs since August 2002, what an achievement.

Cheers

Di

Aberdeen Street Collection 2007 - 11 August 2007
Volunteers desperately needed

Just when you thought that all the fund raising was over after the tremendous success of the New Deer Show, we have another potential event for our lovely puppies!!!

The Aberdeen Street Collection date is the 11 August 2007. As some of you will know, this is a time when we go out with our collection cans, and more importantly our dogs, to raise more funds to help GAGAH through the difficult winter period when donations are not so forthcoming. The collection day can be really great fun and very successful. This will be the fourth year and I am desperately hoping that some of our very hardworking and loyal GAGAH owners will be able to help us out for an hour and a half on the day, preferably with their dogs.

I propose to change the format from previous years and break the day into only three parts ie from 10.30am to 12noon, from 12 noon to 1.30pm and from 1.30pm to 3pm. This means that it is a slightly shorter day than in previous years.

Basically, I am groveling for anyone who is interested in helping to give me a shout and let me know if they could attend to collect and also whether they are able to bring a dog or two!!! The dogs steal the show and make the collecting a billion times easier as the shoppers are attracted to them and then freely donate rather than the collectors hassling resentful shoppers. To be honest, if we do not manage to get the necessary "dog cover" it is questionable whether the collection will go ahead as attempting to raise funds without our furry friends is a total nightmare and thoroughly demoralising!! Furthermore, the dogs that are there often inspire shoppers to get in touch for potential re-homings. Consequently, the more puppies that we can parade the better.

Therefore, if anyone is interested in giving us an hour and a half of their time, and getting a great opportunity to brag about their fantastic doggie chums, please contact Sam Payne on 01224 635003 and leave a message or e-mail me on protype@btinternet.com and let me know (a) if you could help, (b) the time slot that is most convenient for you and (c) whether your dog or dogs will be able to come along.

Any help would be extremely gratefully received.

Very many thanks

Sam Payne
