| | Step 1
Get in touch with us for a general chat about adopting a greyhound or lurcher. Ask as many questions as you can think of. Read the information pack which can be found at http://www.dogsworldwide.com/gagah.htm
Step 2
Once you have read the info pack get back in touch and we can arrange a homevisit. This is a chance for you to get to know us, our organisation and our expectations of new owners. It also helps us find a suitable dog for you.
Step 3
If, after the homevisit, both parties are happy to proceed then it is up to us to find a potential dog for you based on the chats and homevisit information.
Step 4
Once we think we have found a suitable dog for you we will contact you. In most instances new owners need to be willing to travel to meet their potential dog and if you already have a dog, or have children we would much prefer they all went to meet the new dog to ensure the first meeting goes well. We have dogs in various places i.e. Alloa (near Striling), Methlick (Aberdeenshire), Cumbernauld (Glasgow – East) and Aberdeen.Step 5
After a while we follow up with a home visit to talk through any issues and see if there are any help we can provide - perhaps putting you in touch with other owners. What expenses are involved ?
Firstly, we ask for a minimum donation of £70. Most dogs are NOT vaccinated as unfortunately our funds do not stretch this far, but in some occasions the dogs are vaccinated.
Most dogs are neutered before they go to their new home, but again there are some instances where this is not the case i.e. if a bitch has just come out of season then they cannot be neutered for 3mths after the season has finished. Where this is the case though GAGAH are happy to negotiate the donation.
Support Offered from GAGAH
We are happy to help new owners in every way we can and insist that owners get in touch as soon as any problems start with their new dog. We also expect new owners to be willing and determined to work through problems and not give up on the first hurdle.
Please remember we expect a life long commitment from new owners. Greyhounds and lurchers make fantastic pets and are addictive. If we can help in any way to ensure the adoption is a success we will!
